Every sport brings its own distinct fitness challenges. Whilst golf is often perceived as a leisurely activity it is serious sport and in fact has one of the highest levels of injuries of any sport.  The golf swing is one of the most complex moves you can ask your body to do, where we ask a huge number of joints and muscles to work in sequence across multiple planes of movement to collide accurately with a small spherical object at speeds of up to 100 mph. And we need to do that a great many times as we make our way around a golf course. To do this we require good balance, core strength, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance and power.

Golf Specific Fitness Training can:

·        Build increased mobility and flexibility

·        Reduce and prevent golf related injuries

·        Help to rehabilitate you from the injuries you have

·        Increase your club head speed

·        Ultimately reduce your handicap & lower your scores

About you Fitness Consultancy Programmes:

A golf specific fitness regime starts with a Golf Fitness Assessment with our qualified instructor, Nicki Tinkler. This hour long assessment looks at your balance, core strength, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance and power. As a result of the assessment, Nicki will provide you with a full report which can be used as a baseline to shape your golf fitness programme. A second session would work you through that fitness programme and give you a detailed document which sets out this fitness programme for you. You can then work on this at your own gym, at home or with Nicki in her fully equipped studio. Follow up sessions will be scheduled, providing you with results, stats and future goal setting. 

About Nicki Tinkler:

I have always enjoyed being fit.  I used to be a middle distance runner, hockey player and an enthusiastic horse woman. A serious back injury put pay to those sports but brought with it a love for walking.

When I retired from 30 years in the public sector I retrained as a personal fitness trainer working initially for Fitness by Design at Gillingham but then branching out on my own and establishing About You Fitness Consultancy working from home at Broad Chalke. During the past 6 years my focus has mainly been working with the over 50’s and those with back conditions or other medical conditions which made them reluctant to attend classes or a gym.

Having taken up golf in the last few years, I have seen just how important core strength, flexibility and injury prevention is to all levels of golfer. I progressed into golf fitness by completing a golf specific training course and now provide specialist golf fitness to a number of golfers at Rushmore Golf Club, working alongside the Christey-Clover Golf Academy. The golfers that I currently work with vary from seasoned players with hip, shoulder or back problems, low handicap golfers looking to build up their core strength and improve mobility and everyone in between. Clients regularly comment on their improved scores, lack of pain and additional distance based on the training programme we have put in place.
